Hobbits make the best council!

I wonder if one could build a deck with red Merry. Blue gives access to the spirit cards which are really helpful in the council decks but his ability is really redundant between all the threat reduction you already have. However, a fire power merry with a sword-thaine possible for Rosie Cotton or other unique would be awesome.

Just thinking here. Or maybe Tom Cotton to bring a swarm without worry about trisphere money.

Why did you pick Folco Boffin over Pippin? Pippin has a fantastic ability increasing the enemy threat by 3 and giving you additional draw. Folco Boffin may be dropped for threat reduction, but then you have no access to resources anymore?

To answer is general Secrecy is kinda key to this deck since I hope to use repeatedly Swift and Silent/Noiseless Movement/Courage Awakened. Sure the Contract threat reduction is kinda assured but in the early turns I guess I will prefer to use it for resource generation and card draw and it's not always sure I will have the resource to use Frodo Baggins's ability (or that we will quest successfully. That's why I wanted to start with the lowest possible starting threat.

@JtothemacI thought of Tom Cotton over Merry indeed, so I could more easily play allies but without having some degree of certainty in giving him his usual attachments and since it caused an higher starting threat too close to going out of Secrecy I passed it over. But I guess it could be worth it.

@ticklerFolco affords me a lower starting threat which will help me stay longer in Secrecy (since threat reduction besides the contract is not assured). Also Folco has 2 attack which sometimes can make all the difference. It might be worth to exchange Folco Boffin with Pippin if you are running Merry instead of Merry
